This interesting and unique piece is a 14K gold Mourning brooch back from the 1890s.This brooch was designed to hold hair of the deceased in memory and to always keep them close. The fan is moveable and locks in place when fully open. Its detailed with engraving that has black enamel to make the flowers and scroll pattern pop. Under the pin, on the back, there is a second hinge to open and place the memento. A hand at the bottom of the oval shaped brooch has vines and flowers curling around. Prong set around there are two diamonds that are estimated to be roughly a little under a quarter ct. The brooch is also able to be able worn as a pendant on a chain. The piece measures 51.39mm long, 43.13mm wide, sits 18.80mm tall, and weighs 18.7DWT.
